The school day on September 8, 2026 commenced with a thought provoking discussion on the topic ‘Dignity of Work’ as presented by class 8A in their morning assembly. The assembly started with three consecutive scenes from our everyday lives, highlighting three of the many ways in which we knowingly or unknowingly end up questioning people’s worth based on their profession. The scenes raised a few questions for the audience to ponder upon. These questions were immediately taken up by the speakers who first briefly explained the context of the scenes, followed by a better alternative that could have replaced each of those situations. After that the students brought to light the very essence of ‘Dignity of work’, commonly also referred to as ‘Dignity of Labour’ - which, in simple words, is the accordance of basic respect to every worker of the society, regardless of their job - the fact that the value of a person comes from the honesty and effort of their work. Following this, a student from class 8B asked the class if they have changed for the better and should be questioned in case they falter, to which they replied that they are learners and would certainly keep working for their betterment. The final element of the assembly was a self composed poem on the said theme. The assembly concluded with Brother Agnelo sharing his observations and wise thoughts with the audience, followed by a confident singing of the school anthem.
