Description:
CRY India at St. Columba's School: Empowering Students with Awareness and Opportunities
The students of Classes 8 and 9 had the unique opportunity to participate in an engaging session conducted by Child Rights and You (CRY) on 10-01-2025. The session, conducted by Ms. Smriti, a representative from CRY, offered a deeper understanding of the critical work CRY undertakes to ensure the rights and well-being of underprivileged children in India.
The esteemed speaker highlighted the challenges faced by children in marginalized communities and explained how CRY works tirelessly to address issues such as access to education, healthcare, and protection.
A key takeaway from the session was the introduction of internship opportunities for Columbans with CRY, which come with certification. These internships will provide our students with a platform to engage in meaningful social work, develop empathy, and actively contribute to creating a positive impact in society.
The session was highly interactive, with students from both classes engaging enthusiastically, asking thought-provoking questions, and expressing keen interest in CRY’s initiatives. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Ms. Smriti for her valuable insights and to the school for organizing this enriching experience.
This useful session not only broadened the students' awareness of social issues but also encouraged them to think critically about their role in building a more equitable and compassionate world.
