Description: Class 2-3 Parents' Orientation - Academic Year 2025-26 Date-8th April 2025 ‘Together we can give our children the roots to grow and the wings to fly.’ On the bright morning of 8th April, 2025, a combined Parents’ Orientation was held for Classes 2 and 3 in Edmund Rice Hall. Our respected Principal, Brother Robert, began the orientation with a prayer song which highlighted that ‘We are Unity’ and we must work together for our children’s bright future. Addressing key concerns observed among students, he encouraged parents to help shape their children into responsible citizens by modelling good behaviour and etiquette, as children often imitate their parents. Following this, Brother Robert invited Mrs. Ritu Kaushal, Headmistress of the Junior Wing, along with the teachers of Classes 2 and 3, to brief parents on the school’s teaching approach. Mrs. Kaushal began by introducing the National Education Policy (NEP), which focuses on fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and application-based learning. She also shared insights gathered from parent feedback on students’ strengths and areas needing additional support. Teachers then explained the “Learning Through Skills” approach, which includes Creativity and Imagination, Digital Literacy, Teamwork and Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication Skills, Environmental Awareness, and Social Skills. They discussed the activities students will engage in to develop these skills throughout the year. Next, Coordinator Mrs. Anjali Sharma spoke about CSE activities, inter- and intra-school competitions, and key events for the academic year. The assessment pattern was discussed in detail, along with the progressive syllabus. The Coordinator also emphasised teachers’ expectations from both students and parents. The Headmistress then addressed three pressing concerns: lack of spoken English, aggressive behaviour, and bullying. She discussed each in detail and offered practical strategies for parents to implement at home to support behavioural improvement. To conclude the session, Brother Robert held a question-and-answer round, responding to parents’ queries and instructing teachers to note their suggestions for future consideration. Overall, it was a productive and engaging orientation that strengthened the bond between school and home, setting the stage for a successful academic year.
