Description: "Take care of your body—it's the only place you have to live." With this thought, St. Columba’s School, Junior Wing, launched a CBSE-led awareness campaign on “The Sugar Board” in July 2025 to educate students about the harmful effects of added sugar. While sugar may taste sweet, it can lead to serious health issues like obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay. To promote healthier habits, the Junior Wing organised engaging, age-appropriate activities across all grades. The Kindergarteners enjoyed a cheerful Vegetable Song promoting natural foods. Class 1 explored high and low sugar items through a sorting activity. Class 2 identified foods that support or harm dental health and discussed healthy, homemade sweet alternatives. Class 3 created Sugar Pocket Cards, learned about sugar-free food choices, and wrote slogans to promote awareness. Interactive activities, such as "Guess the Sugar" and poster-making, helped students understand the hidden sugars in common snacks. Teachers reinforced the message by encouraging fruits over candies and coconut water instead of sugary drinks. During the PTM, Dr. Sukh Sabia Preet, Senior Executive Nutritionist at Cloudnine Hospital and parent of a KG student, addressed parents on the dangers of excessive sugar and suggested healthier options for children. The campaign successfully raised awareness, encouraged mindful eating, and empowered students to make better lifestyle choices—marking a meaningful step toward long-term health and well-being.
