“The Art Factory”

Annual Art Exhibition 2026–27 (Middle school)

Colour, creativity and imagination filled the Middle School wing of St. Columba’s School on 15 and 16 October 2026, as the annual art exhibition, “The Art Factory,” transformed the campus into a vibrant celebration of student expression. More than a display of finished artworks, the exhibition offered visitors a glimpse into the students’ ideas, skills and creative journeys while highlighting the power of art to inspire, communicate and connect.

Key Highlights

For the exhibition, the Art Room and canteen were transformed into vibrant art galleries. Artworks were thoughtfully arranged on easel stands, display boards and installations, creating an engaging and visually stimulating experience for visitors.

  • Students presented a wide variety of paintings, drawings, compositions and projects, reflecting their artistic exploration and understanding of different art forms.
  • The exhibition featured artworks created using a range of media and techniques, including acrylics, watercolours, pencil shading, pen and ink, poster colours, oil pastels and mixed media. Together, these displays demonstrated the students’ willingness to experiment with colour, texture, form and composition.
  • The exhibits also revealed a clear understanding of the elements and principles of art, including colour harmony, balance, proportion, rhythm and visual composition.
  • Installations and innovative projects added a distinctive character to the exhibition, highlighting the value of experimentation, resourcefulness and out-of-the-box thinking in the artistic process.
  • Beyond displaying their work, students gained confidence, learned to appreciate one another’s efforts and experienced art as a powerful medium of communication and self-expression.

The exhibition was inaugurated on 15th October 2026 by Br. Robert Fernandes (Principal), in the gracious presence of Br. Agnelo Benjamin, Mrs. Ritu Kaushal (Headmistress, Junior School), and the school coordinators, marking the commencement of a two-day celebration showcasing the students’ creativity, artistic excellence, and talent.

The success of the exhibition was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Art Department teachers, Mrs. Priti Badhan and Mr. Tushant, along with the dedicated student volunteers. Their commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork were instrumental in planning, arranging and presenting the artworks, as well as ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.

“The Art Factory” successfully highlighted the value of art beyond the creation of beautiful objects. It provided students with opportunities to explore ideas, express their individuality and discover new possibilities. The exhibition concluded on a positive note, leaving visitors with a renewed appreciation for the talent and potential of the Columban community.
