“Emerging Echoes” - Art Exhibition 2025–26
On 22nd January 2026, the middle wing of St. Columba’s School hosted a vibrant art exhibition titled “Emerging Echoes”—a creative fusion where East meets West. The event showcased the exceptional talent of students from Classes 4 to 10, focusing on the seamless integration of traditional Indian aesthetics with Western artistic techniques.
Key Highlights:
• The middle school foyer and art room were transformed into an art gallery, with exhibits thoughtfully displayed on easel stands, boards, and installations throughout the foyer and art room.
• Students presented unique artworks where Indian folk traditions such as Madhubani, Gond, and Pichwai, were blended with Western movements like Cubism, Impressionism, Pop Art, Zentangle, and Surrealism.
• The collection featured an array of paintings, drawings, and installations created using acrylics, watercolours, pen and ink, pencil shading, brush pens, coloured pencils, and oil pastels. Some students also used mixed media, combining traditional methods with modern abstract styles.
• In line with the school’s commitment to sustainability, many exhibits reflected the theme of reuse and recycling. Notable installations included “Dali-inspired Melting Clocks Tree” by Class 9, Zentangle Cubes by Classes 9 and 10, POP Art Installation by Class 9, Cubist Faces Installation by Classes 4 and 5, Mandala Motif Plates by Class 5, Cubist Faces by Class 8, and “Wings” by Class 10, created using repurposed materials such as paper, cardboard, and scrap to promote the concept of “art out of waste.”
• Notable contributions also included contemporary interpretations by master artists Sarabjeet (9A), Hridyansh (9C), Art Club students, and student volunteers.
The exhibition was graced by the presence of Principal Brother Robert Fernandes, Brother Angelo Benjamin, Mr. Naresh Chopra (Headmaster XI-XII), Mrs. Ritu Kaushal (Headmistress KG to III), and Coordinators Mrs. Shashikala Shaji, Mrs. Ranjana Chug, and Mrs. Hima Simon. The morning of 22nd January 2026 commenced with the inauguration of the art exhibition, followed by the lighting of the lamp by our esteemed guests. The guests lauded the students for their ability to harmonize diverse cultural influences, noting that such initiatives foster a deeper understanding of global heritage.
The exhibition concluded with a message of appreciation for the Art Department teachers—Mrs. Priti Badhan and Mr. Tushant; Art Club teachers Mrs. Archana Srivastava, Mrs. Magi Mathews, Mrs. Manju Thukral, and Mrs. Merlin Jose; as well as the student volunteers of Classes 8 and 9, who worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. Special appreciation was also extended to the coordinators for their unwavering administrative support.
The event successfully highlighted that art knows no boundaries, leaving the audience with a renewed appreciation for the “fusion” of cultures that define the modern Columban spirit.
