Description: Nelson Mandela Day Celebration – 18th & 19th July The school celebrated Nelson Mandela Day on the 18th of July with great enthusiasm and reflection. The morning assembly, conducted by the boys, paid tribute to Mandela’s life and his deep connection to human rights. The students also highlighted how Edmund Rice’s philosophy aligns with Mandela’s values of justice, equality, and compassion. A soulful song followed, resonating with the spirit of peace and unity. Later in the day, a PowerPoint presentation on the life and vision of Edmund Rice was shown, drawing meaningful parallels with Mandela's legacy. A powerful video recording from Africa was also screened, featuring children from the continent sharing their hopes and dreams for the future of Africa. The day was a heartfelt reminder of the enduring impact of leaders who stand for truth and justice. On the 19th of July, the spirit of Nelson Mandela continued to be honoured during the Parent-Teacher Meeting. As part of the commemoration, a signature campaign was organised to celebrate Mandela’s legacy. Parents, students, and teachers enthusiastically participated, signing their names in solidarity with his values of peace, equality, and dignity for all. While the PTM was in progress, a vibrant collage of Nelson Mandela and his teachings was displayed on the inter-flat panel, drawing attention and admiration from all who passed by. The campaign served not only as a tribute but also as a commitment from the school community to uphold the principles Mandela stood for. It was a meaningful close to the two-day celebration, reinforcing the importance of collective action in building a just and compassionate society.
