St. Columba’s School hosted the Columban Model United Nations on the 7th and 08th of August, 2026. The 9th edition of the MUN was the biggest that the school has witnessed, with more than 460 participants from over 30 schools of Delhi- NCR Region.

The grand opening ceremony at the Edmund Rice Hall was indeed a great start to the conference. The Principal’s address and the opening video were the highlights of the opening ceremony.

The first day of the conference set the stage for the debates with a focus on the identification and analysis of leading global issues. The second day concluded the sessions and debates and aimed at providing solutions to the issues raised. The 8 committees convened and the agendas discussed are as follows:

United Nations General Assembly-DISEC- Tackling the problem of proliferation of small arms and illicit weapons, with special emphasis on their usage in proxy warfare.

1. United Nations Human Rights Council- Discussing the extraterritorial application of international human rights law (IHL) with special emphasis on state accountability during humanitarian crises.
2. United Nations Security Council (Historic Crisis)- The Soviet-Afghan Conflict. Freeze Date- 25th December 1979.
3. United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees- Addressing cross-border displacement and humanitarian instability due to the escalation of ongoing conflicts, with special emphasis on IDP's.
4. World Health Organisation-  Deliberation on the ethical, regulatory, and public health implications of emerging genomic manipulation technologies, with special emphasis on global governance mechanisms.
5. United Nations Commission on the Status of Women- Deliberation on Enhancing Women’s Political Participation and Representation in Governance and Public Administration, with Special Emphasis on Local Leadership Gaps and Institutional Barriers.
6. All India Political Parties’ Meet- Discussing the implications of the Delimitation exercise in India in light of growing concerns regarding SIR and electoral integrity.
7. INTERNATIONAL PRESS: Journalism, Caricature, Photography.

A panel comprising distinguished and experienced executive board members ensured that the debates were of the highest standard.

The first day ended with SOCIALS, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the participants, and the second day ended with an even grander closing ceremony. The Secretariat and the Executive board members were awarded, and the results were declared. Delhi Public School, Noida, won the prestigious award for the best school delegation.
