On August 28, 2024, the Dramatics Club at St. Columba's School had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Samira Verma, a distinguished researcher, educator, and performing artist, for an enriching dramatics workshop. Dr. Verma, who holds a Doctorate in History from JNU and has an extensive background in teaching and research on themes such as caste, gender identity, and comparative religion, captivated the students with her multifaceted expertise.
Dr. Verma’s workshop was a vibrant blend of education and entertainment. She began by sharing fascinating stories from her diverse career, illustrating how her experiences as a high school History teacher and her current role as a Gender Consultant have influenced her approach to theatre. Her engaging anecdotes not only entertained, but also provided valuable insights into the intersection of history, social issues, and performance.
The session was interactive and dynamic, featuring a range of acting exercises designed to enhance the students' skills and confidence.
