Description:
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
— Mahatma Gandhi
At St. Columba’s School, we believe it is our responsibility to nurture in our boys a deep respect for hard work and sincere gratitude for those who serve our community with quiet dedication. The Labour Day Assembly, organised on 1st May 2025 by the Junior Wing, was a moving tribute to the indispensable members of our support staff.
The programme began with a reflective prayer, followed by a cheerful welcome song performed by the boys, acknowledging the tireless efforts of those who work behind the scenes to keep the school running smoothly.
A highlight of the assembly was a creative and heartwarming enactment by the boys, in which each classroom, corridor, the library, and the staff room were brought to life. Through imaginative role play, the boys gave voice to different spaces within the school, each one expressing gratitude to the helpers - the Didis and Bhiayas-who care for them every day.
This was followed by a spirited dance performance, symbolising the dignity of labour and the value of sincere effort. The assembly concluded with a simple yet meaningful felicitation ceremony, where the helpers were presented with small tokens of appreciation—offered with heartfelt respect and gratitude.
The celebration served as a powerful reminder to the boys that every role, no matter how modest, contributes to the greater good—and that hard work, in any form, deserves recognition and honour.
