Description: MENTAL MATH ROUND 1 An inter-house mental math competition was conducted at school, during the activity period on 28.04.2025 for classes 4th to 10th. The pen and paper assessment evaluated the mathematical skills of the students with a varying degree of difficulty. The students were gauged on the concepts of number, patterns, operation in numbers, spatial understanding, measurement, algebra, fractions, and geometry. Each and every child enrolled got an opportunity to participate which encouraged a sense of community and belongingness while prompting enhanced concentration. The activity was for 10 marks with each question allotted 2 minutes each which was aimed in developing accuracy, number sense and calculation speed. The qualifiers of this activity will be again assessed in the 2nd term with a new set of questions with greater challenges and increased complexities and the final position holders of each class will be felicitated with certificates. Summing up, engaging in MENTAL MATH ACTIVITY helped the boys in exercising multiple cognitive processes - memory, attention and critical thinking. Studies revealed that regular mental exercise keeps our brain agile, adaptable, akin to the benefits of physical activities to our body. The activity was designed to encourage students to explore mathematics with renewed enthusiasm. Team of THE MENTAL MATH ST.COLUMBA’S SCHOOL
