The
much-awaited first edition of The Columban Verdict—St. Columba’s School’s very
own Moot Court Competition—was held on November 1, 2025, for students of
Classes 8, 9, and 10. The event transformed the Middle School into a vibrant
courtroom arena where young Columbans donned the roles of judges, advocates,
witnesses, and court officials, arguing complex cases with remarkable composure
and clarity.
This
year’s competition featured two simultaneous courts: the Supreme Court of
India, conducted in the Middle School Auditorium and the Nuremberg Tribunal,
held in the Library. Each courtroom addressed distinct legal scenarios,
blending constitutional and international perspectives. Students engaged
passionately with issues of equality, justice, and moral
responsibility—demonstrating not just knowledge, but empathy and ethical
reasoning.
Both
courts witnessed powerful arguments, well-researched submissions, and
insightful judgments. The student participants impressed the panel of judges
with their analytical thinking, confident articulation, and understanding of
judicial procedure. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as verdicts
were announced, applauding not only the winners, but the collective effort and
learning of all involved.
The
Columban Verdict 2025 stood as a reflection of St. Columba’s commitment to
experiential learning — where education transcends textbooks and students are
encouraged to question, reason, and lead with integrity. The day ended on a
high note, celebrating not only the triumphs of argument, but the spirit of
justice and critical inquiry that defines every Columban learner.
