In SCS, it’s our utmost responsibility to equip the students with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values when it comes to safeguarding themselves against any kind of abuse, particularly sexual abuse. Keeping the same in mind an insightful session on CSE was conducted by the Protection Officer of the Junior School, Mrs. Pooja Guglani on 6th March 2023 for the staff of Junior Wing.
It was an engaging session that invited responses from teachers regarding various aspects of child protection and sexuality education lessons from Kindergarten to Class 3. The session was quite interactive as Mrs. Guglani involved the teachers in an open discussion thereby drawing insights from real-life examples in the context of the age group of children entrusted in our care.
Various suggestions and strategies were also discussed regarding conducting different activities pertaining to vulnerable real-life situations which need to be dealt with by children. Mrs. Guglani also elaborated on aspects of designing Child Protection lesson plans that are regularly conducted in the Junior Wing.
The teachers even volunteered to enact a role play which could be used as a significant tool during the child protection classes.
The session was graced by the Junior Wing Headmistress, Mrs. Ritu Kaushal who concluded the discussion with her valuable suggestions and encouraged the teachers to equip our students in terms of necessary and accurate information, expression, and skills to differentiate between the safe-unsafe touches and voice resistance required in situations.
