“A good debate does more than shape an argument—it teaches us to think, listen and see the world from another point of view.”
The Junior School resonated with ideas, opinions and enthusiastic voices as the Class 3 Intra-Class Annual Debate – ‘Walk the Talk’ was held on 18th August 2026. The programme opened with our young comperes setting the stage with confidence and enthusiasm, followed by a thoughtful rendition of the poem ‘When Thoughts Differ’, which beautifully captured the spirit of questioning, listening and expressing different points of view. The occasion also included a special Dedication to Blessed Edmund Rice, reminding the students of the values of courage, compassion and speaking up for what is right.
The five sections of Class 3 explored engaging and age-appropriate topics that encouraged the boys to look at familiar situations from different perspectives. Class 3A debated “Are Mobile Smart Learning Tools or a Big Distraction?”, while Class 3B explored “Should Schools Have a Mid-Week Day Off?”. Class 3C reflected on “Can Small Actions by Children Help Save the Earth?”. Class 3D examined colour labels through “Pink Is for Girls, Blue Is for Boys — Do You Agree?”, while Class 3E considered the value of achievement and friendship through “Winning Prizes or Making Friends — What Matters More in School Life?”
The young speakers brought their topics alive with well-prepared arguments, expressive delivery and impressive confidence. They questioned, reasoned and, most importantly, demonstrated that a difference of opinion can be expressed with respect. Their enthusiasm and stage presence made the debate an engaging experience for everyone present.
The debate was judged by Mr. Piyush Emmanuel, who appreciated the students’ articulation, confidence and ability to present their ideas with clarity. His encouraging feedback added value to the experience and motivated the young speakers to continue developing their communication and reasoning skills.
The event was graced by our respected Principal, Br. Robert, and Junior Wing Headmistress, Mrs. Ritu Kaushal. Br. Robert commended the students and highlighted the importance of debate in developing the ability to think independently, listen to differing viewpoints, and express one's ideas with respect. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Ritu Kaushal, who acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the students.
More than a competition, ‘Walk the Talk’ was a fitting celebration of young voices learning to engage with ideas, appreciate differences, and speak with purpose.
