Description:
An earthquake evacuation drill was conducted on 6th September’23 to create awareness and check preparedness of the students and the staff of the Middle school. The guidelines and the steps for evacuation were shared with the classes before the mock drill.
The siren was activated at 11.04 AM sharp. The students along with their teachers and the supporting staff participated in the Mock drill. A total of 1712 students participated in the drill.
The students after the duck, hold and cover started evacuating the building. The classes took the designated route to exit their classes as per the DM plan.
Everyone assembled on the middle school ground. The classes which were already on the Middle school ground also took their allocated positions. The teachers in charge of their respective classes did the head count and the head count was reported to the DM team. No member was found to be missing.
It took 2 minutes 50 seconds to evacuate the entire building. No student was injured in the drill. The floor in charges checked the building and everything was found in place.
Finally, the students were directed back to the building to resume their classes.
The outcome of the drill was shared with the students and the staff via the Intercom. The points to improve upon will be incorporated in our next drill.
It was an enriching experience as it was an exercise to give training to the students and the staff to face and handle emergency situations in real life. - Manju Singh Rawat
