As a
tribute to Charles Dickens' timeless works, the Intra Mélange English
Competition: Dickensian Character Enactment was conducted for students of Grade
9 and 10. The event saw finalists bring iconic Dickensian characters to life on
stage, with all sections of Grade 9 and Grade 10 competing within their
respective grades.
The
event was interspersed with engaging music fillers that set the Victorian
ambience and an interactive trivia round on Charles Dickens. From the miserly
Ebenezer Scrooge to the hopeful Oliver Twist and the tragic Miss Havisham, the
enactment saw various characters step out of the pages and come to life with
remarkable expression and stage presence. Each performance reflected the
students' deep engagement with Dickensian literature.
Students
who secured the first, second, and third positions will now go on to represent
St. Columba’s School at the Inter Mélange Competition — an inter-school event
scheduled for July 2026.
A
proud moment as our students carry forward the legacy of literature onto a
larger stage.
