MOCK DRILL 07.05.2025
In line with the advisory to schools for conducting Civil Defence Awareness and Preparedness Programs, as per the directive of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), St. Columba’s School organized a mock drill for its students. The exercise was effectively conducted under the guidance of the school’s disaster management team, with active support from all teachers.
Students were educated through department-circulated videos and participated in practical exercises designed to help them respond effectively in emergency situations.
Students were encouraged to prepare an emergency kit containing essential items that would be useful in such situations.
They were also asked to identify safe spaces in the school, at home, and in their neighbourhoods. The “Duck, Hold, and Cover” drill was practiced as part of the session.
The importance of First Aid was also discussed in detail.
Students were advised not to fall prey to rumours and were reminded of the importance of staying calm and not panicking during emergencies.
The drill successfully fostered a sense of safety and responsibility for oneself and others.
