Description:
The 38th edition of the Columban Open Quiz 2025 unfolded with tremendous enthusiasm and intellectual fervour, bringing together 101 dynamic teams from 30 reputed schools across the region. The event was hosted in the Blessed Edmund Rice Hall, the intellectual and cultural heart of St. Columba’s School. This two-day mega event was not merely a competition but a celebration of curiosity, quick thinking, and team spirit.
Day 1: The Battle Begins -
The day began on a formal note as the event was declared open by Brother Robert Fernandes, Principal of St. Columba’s School, whose words of encouragement set an inspiring tone for the competition. Day 1 featured a high-energy preliminary round, where teams battled it out for a coveted spot in the semi-finals. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation, as young minds showcased remarkable reasoning, awareness, and subject mastery.
Day 2: The Grand Showdown -
The second day commenced with a morning prayer, invoking divine blessings and creating a solemn and focused ambiance. The day unfolded with the semi-finals and culminated in a nail-biting grand finale.
The quiz was conducted by the dynamic and engaging Major Chandrakanth N, a veteran quizmaster known for his sharp intellect and captivating style. His thought-provoking questions and spontaneous humour kept the audience and participants thoroughly engrossed.
At the heart of the successful event were the dedicated teacher coordinators, Mrs. Ritu Nagpal and Mrs. Renuka Popli, whose meticulous planning and unwavering commitment ensured that every aspect of the quiz was executed flawlessly. Supporting them was a committed core team and the senior school staff, who worked diligently behind the scenes. Special appreciation goes out to the student volunteers, whose enthusiasm, hospitality, and smooth coordination reflected the true Columban spirit.
Results and Recognitions ;-
The grand finale saw the brightest minds from participating schools compete fiercely in a thrilling display of knowledge, composure, and teamwork.
First Place: Delhi Public School, Noida – Rolling Trophy + ₹8,000 cash prize
Second Place: Delhi Public School, Greater Noida -₹6,000 cash prize
Third Place: Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj - ₹4,000 cash prize
All participating schools were awarded certificates in appreciation of their active participation and sportsmanship.
The event concluded on a heartfelt note with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Naresh Chopra, Headmaster, Senior School, who acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved from participants and teachers to volunteers and organisers.
The Columban Open Quiz 2025 was not just a competition, it was a glorious celebration of intellect, teamwork, and academic excellence. We look forward to welcoming schools for the 39th edition next year, with even greater zeal and spirit!
