St. Columba’s School Observes International Day of the Girl Child

Eco Club Initiative – “HeForShe” Campaign, Plastic Recycling & E-Waste Drive

Date: 11th October 2025

The Eco Club of St. Columba’s School proudly observed the International Day of the Girl Child with a powerful and thought-provoking initiative that beautifully blended gender equality with environmental consciousness.

“HeForShe” Campaign

The highlight of the celebration was the “HeForShe” campaign, where the boys of the school came forward as proud advocates of gender equality, pledging their support for a world where every girl is empowered, respected, and given equal opportunity. The campaign saw enthusiastic participation as students, teachers, and staff members added their signatures to a vibrant signature wall—each name symbolizing a promise to stand for equality. Every participant was presented with a HeForShe badge as a token of commitment, worn with pride and purpose.

Plastic Recycling

Adding a touch of creativity and sustainability to the occasion, the Eco Club also organized a plastic recycling exhibition. Beautifully crafted plastic pots, upcycled with care and decorated with inspiring designs, were displayed—each creation reflecting the students’ awareness of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” principle. The initiative not only encouraged eco-friendly practices but also highlighted how innovation and responsibility can go hand in hand.

E-Waste Drive

In addition, an impactful E-Waste Awareness Campaign was carried out under the umbrella of the YES Project, an initiative of the Chintan Organization. Through this campaign, students, parents, teachers, and staff members came together to sign the E-Waste Signature Pledge, affirming their responsibility toward safe and sustainable e-waste disposal. The Chintan Organization played a vital role in guiding and inspiring the students, helping them understand the deeper purpose behind the movement—to build a cleaner, greener, and more responsible future. This collaboration empowered the young Columbans to become true ambassadors of change.

The day concluded with a strong message of change, compassion, and commitment—that true empowerment begins when both boys and girls walk hand in hand, and when sustainability becomes a shared duty. Through their participation, the students of St. Columba’s once again proved that they are young torchbearers of equality, environmental stewardship, and hope for a better tomorrow.
