Human
Rights Day was observed in the Middle School on 10th December through a special
intercom assembly conducted by the students of Class 9 A — Aditya Sinha and
Denis Joseph. The observance aimed to reinforce the significance of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to promote awareness about
safeguarding the dignity and rights of all individuals.
The
address highlighted the hardships faced by homeless individuals, emphasising
that adequate shelter is a fundamental human right. The speakers drew attention
to the heightened challenges experienced during the winter season and urged
students to cultivate empathy, compassion, and social responsibility.
A short
pledge was administered, during which students affirmed their commitment to
kindness and solidarity with vulnerable groups. They were encouraged to engage
in simple yet meaningful acts of support such as donating warm clothes,
providing food, assisting shelter homes, and treating every individual with
respect.
The
assembly concluded with a reminder that upholding human rights is a collective
responsibility. The observance effectively conveyed the message of equality,
empathy, and responsibility towards marginalized sections of society.
