Description: On April 22nd, 2025, the Virasat Club at St. Columba’s School had the privilege of hosting Mr. Sachin Singh Jadoun, Assistant Scientist at Patanjali Research Institute, and Founder of the INARCH Centre (Indian Archaeology Centre), for a highly interactive and inspiring session on the world of archaeology. Mr. Jadoun, who holds both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Archaeology and Heritage Management, brought history to life for our students. He drew from his hands-on experience at excavations in South India and Delhi’s Purana Qila, as well as his specialization in epigraphy and the Sharada script, to take students on a fascinating journey into the past. His presentation introduced students to: • The tools and techniques used in archaeological excavations, • The significance of material remains like pottery, tools, manuscripts and inscriptions, • The importance of preserving and understanding our shared heritage, • And the evolution of Indian archaeology from colonial antiquarian interests to a scientific discipline. Students were especially intrigued by visuals of real excavations and artefacts and were full of questions—so many, in fact, that no one noticed how quickly the session flew by! From ancient scripts to underwater archaeology, Mr. Jadoun’s talk sparked genuine curiosity and excitement in every budding historian in the room. The Virasat Club extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr. Sachin Singh Jadoun for his time, insights and infectious passion for unearthing history - layer by layer.
