"The
best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." —
Mahatma Gandhi
The
Junior Wing of St. Columba’s School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with reverence
and enthusiasm, commemorating the 156th birth anniversary of the Father of the
Nation.
The
programme began with a solemn prayer, followed by a medley of soulful songs
that paid homage to Gandhiji’s ideals. A thoughtful skit and expressive dance
performances beautifully depicted significant moments from his life,
highlighting his principles of truth, non-violence, and self-discipline and
their relevance in today’s world.
The
assembly also drew inspiring parallels between the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi
and Blessed Edmund Rice, both of whom believed that true service to others
arises from compassion, courage, and faith. Positive affirmations shared during
the programme further infused the morning with optimism and purpose.
The
event was well appreciated by our respected Community Leader, Br. Agnello, and
Junior Wing Headmistress, Mrs Kaushal, who commended the students for their
heartfelt and meaningful tribute.
The
celebration concluded on a deeply reflective note as Br. Agnello shared his
personal experience of visiting South Africa and standing at the historic
station where Gandhiji was once removed from a train—an incident that ignited
his lifelong mission against injustice. Br. Agnello’s words left everyone
inspired to live truthfully, serve selflessly, and carry forward the legacy of
Mahatma Gandhi.
