“Influencer
Culture: When Inspiration Turns into Manipulation.”
In
the past, people were only influenced by film stars like Amitabh Bachchan,
athletes like Sachin Tendulkar, or leaders like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
But
today, anyone with a smartphone and confidence can become an influencer. However, with great influence comes great responsibility — and sadly, most
influencers misuse it. From promoting unsafe products to spreading
misinformation, influencer culture often blurs the line between genuine
advice and hidden marketing.
Before
following any advice, one should know whether it guides them or blinds them.”
This thought beautifully reminds us that in a world full of influencers,
trends, and constant opinions, our own awareness is our strongest filter.
Keeping this thought in mind, we as students must learn to pause, think, and
reflect before we follow anything we see online. Trends should guide us, not
define us. Influencer culture can inspire, educate, and entertain but it
can just as easily mislead and manipulate.
So the next time you scroll, take a moment and ask yourself:
“Am I being inspired or am I being manipulated?”
